Kids Need Care Too

Most allergies are a result of an overreactive immune system. Our day-to-day exposure to toxins such as mold, chemicals, and even certain foods will burden our immune system and put our histamine response in overdrive. By identifying the triggers and eliminating them, we can cut out a lot of allergic reactions. 

Our kids can be picky eaters, but sometimes they will avoid certain foods because they know those foods will make them feel bad. When normal gut health is disrupted due to illness or chronic antibiotic use, it can become hyperresponsive to the foods we put in our mouth. A simple test can tell you without a doubt what foods your kid will react to. Ingestion is just one half of the equation, the other is the elimination. Irritation to the nerves in the lower back can bind up the child and constipate them. Through chiropractic care, we can ease the tension in the lower part of the digestive tract and help the elimination process get back to normal function. 

When the body is in a hightened stress response, the immune system can get overwhelmed and start to attack normal, healthy cells. Most of the time, this starts off as a gut-health problem, but can also be neurological. By correcting the disruption on the nervous system through the adjustment, then correcting the gut through food elimination and nutritional support, you can reduce the stress on the body and get immune system to calm down.

PANS and PANDAS are a result of an autoimmune condition where the body starts to attack itself, typically after a strep infection. This condition can produce neurological symptoms such as OCD, tics, mood swings, ADD/ADHD, sleep problems, digestive disorders, changes in cognitive function, regression in handwriting, memory issues, and anxiety. 

First, we run lab tests to see if it is the result of a strep infection and identify anything that could trigger the immune response in the body. Next, we eliminate anything the body perceives as a toxin such as foods, chemicals, and mold. Additionally, we reduce excess stress on the nervous system through chiropractic care.

There can be several causes for ADD and ADHD in children, the biggest two that we see are food/mold triggers and genetic conditions. The majority of the time ADD and ADHD are issues with dopamine. A significant amount of our body's dopamine is produced in the gut, thanks to the activity of gut bacteria. The balance of these bacteria can influence overall dopamine levels, which in turn, impacts our mood and behavior through the gut-brain axis. The other part of the equation is the function of our genes, mainly the MAO and COMT genes. These genes can often mutate and as a result, not function at 100%. Through identification of the gene mutation, we can create dietary and nutritional programs to reduce symptoms. Our goal is to help your child avoid dependence upon medication to function properly. 

Kids need sleep to help their bodies grow. Nutrient deficiencies, overexcited nervous system, body aches, and chemical imbalances will impact how the body produces the proper hormones to fall and stay asleep. By correcting the interferences and eliminating the stimulants, we can help your child overcome sleeping problems.
